IWC Tribute to Pallweber Edition “150 Years”
It may be hard to believe, but more than 100 years before the Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk, IWC Schaffhausen was already producing pocket watches with jumping hours and minutes. Today the so-called Pallweber watches are much sought after by collectors and represent interesting milestones of watchmaking history.
For their 150-year jubilee IWC decided to reintroduce this complex mechanism into a wristwatch. The time is displayed with three separate discs, one for the hours and two for the minutes (similar to a big date jumping every minute). The watch is hand-wound with an impressive 60 hour power reserve. In the last few decades, IWC has been famous for great engineering in watchmaking; this is one of these achievements.

IWC Portugieser Chronograph Edition „150 Years“
Even though the Schaffhausen brand is mainly known for their pilot’s watches, the Portugieser Chronograph is the most successful model in various ways. Unlike any other watch in the collection, its design has never changed. The design, the dimensions, and its overall character are so perfect that it was left completely untouched for decades.
But instead of changing, IWC improved their icon with small but significant updates. This special edition now comes with beautiful lacquered dials in an elegant midnight blue or a crisp white. On the technical side, it offers something watch enthusiasts have been desiring for a long time: a modern in-house chronograph movement visible through the glass back.
