Offered here is an absolutely stunning Rolex Submariner, reference 1680/8, in 18kt yellow gold, circa 1974-75. This particular Submariner was fit with a factory blue dial and matching blue bezel insert; the original blue dial has aged to a “tropical” brown color, due to a defect in the lacquer used by Rolex during this era. The condition of this special Rolex Submariner is lovely. The case has been previously polished, but retains thick and even lugs, with nicely beveled lugs. The dial shows no damage or wear and has aged to a lovely caramel color throughout. Additionally, the original tritium lume is present on both dial and hands, aged to a lovely cream color. Finally, the watch comes on its original Rolex Oyster gold bracelet, and has 11 full links with no stretch.
