Description And History Of The Royal Oak Quantieme Perpetual

Case Octagonal stainless-steel case with platinum bezel, integrated stainless steel and platinum bracelet.

Limited to just 25 pieces, with a beautiful Tuscan Blue dial with applied white gold indices and white gold hands, silver-coloured subdials, month and leap year indications at 12 o'clock, date indication at 3 o'clock, moonphase indication at 6 o'clock, weekday indication at 9 o'clock, signed: "Audemars Piguet Automatic"
Movement Rhodium-plated automatic movement with Geneva stripes calibre 2120/2802.

It has been nearly 50 years since the creation of the original Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and this now iconic watch is more popular than ever. First unveiled by Audemars Piguet in the 1970s and designed by Gerald Genta who also designed the Patek Philippe Nautilus, the Royal Oak has become a distinctive classic with its distinctive features and its role as a pioneer for a luxury sports watch.

To celebrate its 120th anniversary in 1995, Audemars Piguet released a superlative Royal Oak limited edition. This watch has a Quantieme Perpetual complication, known as a perpetual calendar in English, which displays the day, date, month, and position of the current year in the leap-year cycle.

The 39 mm octagonal case and integrated bracelet – both designed by Gerald Genta are executed in Platinum and white Gold. The matching Tuscan Blue-coloured dial does not feature the characteristic tappisserie engraving but has a smooth brushed Tuscan finish.

The day, month, leap-year, and date are displayed in the three upper sub-dials together with blued sword hands, whereas the smaller dial at the 6 o’clock position displays a lovely moon phase indicator alongside the Audemars Piguet signature. The dial features a white-gold minute and hour hand handset.

This stunning example of the Royal Oak 258205SP is in excellent condition and has been obviously treasured by its previous owner.
The Tuscan Blue dial and white gold baton markers and hands are flawless. The stainless steel and platinum integral bracelet are in excellent condition with minimal stretch and free from any scratches or marks.
The platinum polished bezel ring and sapphire glass are free of any dings or scratches and further enhance the overall appearance of this limited-edition Royal Oak.
This rare Royal Oak Quantieme is accompanied with its original Audemars Piguet boxes, setting pusher ‘Certificat D’authenticite’.
