The Roadster line has the honor of uniting the so-called "driver" models of the brand, and it undoubtedly copes with this task perfectly.
The Cartier Roadster watch features a tonneau-shaped case design where "tonneau" comes from the French word for "barrel". In fact, Cartier introduced the first watch with this shape back in 1906. Almost a century later, the Cartier Roadster offers a much more modern approach to the barrel-shaped watch case.
Unlike other watch brands and their car-related models, the Roadster offers Cartier's more elegant take on the world of motorsports. As its name suggests, this is a watch that is heavily influenced by luxury roadsters, especially those from the 1950s and 1960s. The other distinguishing feature is of course the crown - some enthusiasts say it echoes car radiators in the form of a "torpedo", while others say it's a tribute to the wheel design of sports cars in the so-called. "single bolt" grip - I don't know which one has more right, but I like both of these, and both clearly show the connection of the design to the cars.
The version of the model presented today is perhaps one of the most eye-catching versions of the Roadster – firstly, of course, because it is made of solid 18-carat yellow gold and secondly, because of the fact that Arabic rather than Roman numerals are used for markers. The barrel-shaped gold case, the unique crown, the silver dial (Cartier call it opaline) carries black Arabic numerals and blue sword-shaped hands with a generous amount of Luminova. At its heart beats the automatic Cartier Caliber 3110, which is essentially a specially modified top-of-the-line ETA 2892-A2 for the brand – proven in many makes and models, an easy-to-service and maintain workhorse, with 21 jewels and a 42-hour power reserve , operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations.
