1970 OMEGA SEAMASTER De Ville Vintage Mens Stainless Steel Watch - Papers & Boxes
All Original - Box & Papers - Uncommon Model - 1 Year Warranty Today's offering showcases this classic and understated Omega Seamaster De Ville. It is a very uncommon model, ref. 165.007 - the first we've ever owned - with its original papers and boxes. The Seamaster DeVille, showcasing both refinement and high function, was the most important Omega line from a sales perspective in the latter part of the 1960's into the 1970's. While most featured a monocoque - or one piece - case this watch has a two-piece case, though it still very much retains a slim, elegant profile. At 32.5mm, it's just a hair smaller than the average Seamaster for the era, and looks great on someone with more slender wrists. The dial has thin baton hour markers that pair very nicely with the classic pencil-shaped hands. Powering it is Omega's very fine thin automatic caliber 711 movement. It has 24 jewels and is adjusted to two positions. The 700 series has a direct lineage to the celebrated 500 series, and is arguably as good, and collectors are beginning to recognize it accordingly. It was the last very fine movement series of its kind before Omega began to make budget cuts because of the quartz revolution. All in all, it offers a good value and can be quite versatile. Hodinkee, who sold the watch, paired this Seamaster De Ville with their Dark Brown Calfskin Strap for a steel and black combination that we really love. The resulting look is extremely versatile, especially for a simple steel dress watch. Its in superior all-original condition. Every part is original, and it's about as honest as they come. Its never been polished so it retains extremely crisp lines. Its case is better than near mint with light wear to the back from it previously being opened. Even the original crown is mint, showing just how little this watch has been worn.
